Guided climbing tour on the Rosengarten
Climbing in King Laurin's botanical masterpiece
Reach the Rosengarten peak in the Dolomites with a mountain guide.
The Rosengartenspitze in the Dolomites falls just short of the 3000 metre mark. The highest peak in the Catinaccio area is the Kesselkogel at 3005 metres. Nevertheless, the mountain range is named after the Rosengartenspitze. Shrouded in legend and clearly visible from Bolzano, the Catinaccio with its Enrosadira is an iconic mountain.
Tour details
The tour to the Rosengartenspitze is a beautiful and exposed, relatively short climbing tour. However, the approach is long and strenuous.
This takes place either:
a) From the Niegerpass with lift to the Kölnerhütte and continue via the Santnerpass via ferrata to the Santnerpass (approx. 2.5 hours). The via ferrata is mostly in the A/B range and completes the tour to the Rosengarten.
b) Access from the Fassa Valley. From Vigo di Fassa to Rifugio Gradeccia (by chairlift and on foot or by car (permit required)). From here passing the Vajolethut, then to the Rifugio Re Alberto via a secured path and finally to the Santner Pass. (approx. 2.5-3 hours). Technically easier but a little longer in terms of distance.
From the Santnerpass we reach the start shortly. Here the crux in the third grade awaits us immediately. Another 4-5 pitches in the upper second grade follow before we reach a ridge that leads us over easy climbing terrain in full exposure to the summit. Approx. 2-2.5 hours from Santnerpass.
It is possible to split the tour into two days and spend the night in the Santerpasshütte or the Gartlhütte. It can also make sense to combine the tour with a short Climbing tour at the Vajolet Towers on the first day (access day).

Rosengarten south ridge
For those who find the normal route up the Rosengarten too easy, there is the ascent to the summit via the southern ridge of the Rosengartenspitze. The starting point here is the Kölner Hütte. The south ridge is mainly climbed in the third and fourth degree, with a short but crisp crux. The descent is via the normal route.
